Welcome to my blog! This is a place of information and hope for fellow Canadians who are suffering from Lyme disease. I want to share with you the knowledge I have gained during my fight with this debilitating, frightening, and misunderstood illness. I hope you will be blessed.

Peace and Hope

Are you afraid?  Are you weary?  Are you confused?  Are you uncertain of where to turn?

Through my illness, my hope came from God and His promises in the Bible.

Therefore we do not lose heart.  Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.  For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.  So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen.  For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
-2 Cor. 4:16-18

As I entered "the Lyme maze", I had a whole host of emotions running through me:  fear, anxiety, panic, despair.  I turned to my Heavenly Father, and he guided me through the maze.  I clearly saw how He opened some doors, and closed others.  I prayed for endurance, and it was granted to me.

Believe it or not, lots of "good" came from this awful situation, just like Romans 8:28 says.
- I learned to lean on God, to make Him my true hope.
- I am learning (yes....STILL in the process) to forgive those who have hurt me along the way during my illness.
- I have come to understand, first hand, God's sovereignty over everything, including my life.
- I have a renewed relationship with Jesus, my Saviour.

Psalm 139 became very special to me during my illness.

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb.  I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.  My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place.  When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body.  All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.  -Psalm 139:13-16

Besides the Bible, two books that were very helpful to me were:

Joni Eareckson Tada has an encouraging website as well:  http://www.joniandfriends.org/

I would encourage you to get to know your Heavenly Father, and to cast your cares on Him.  Here are some Bible references that greatly helped me in my walk with the Lord, especially during my time of illness.  If you don't have a Bible, you can find it online at BibleGateway.com.

God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains.  It is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world.
